Shutter: Rim set Compur 1-1/300th  B-T
This is the first Rolleiflex to incorporate the famous crank advance. Positive film stop, distance scale on focusing knob, depth of field scale on back of hood, target type sports finder with center peep-hole. Shutter release is incorporated into cocking lever.

Rolleiflex 4 X 4 Baby Sport
1938-1941.
Production Serial Numbers: Approx. 622..000-733.000.
Camera # 642665.
Lens:  f2.8 CZJ Tessar # 2096987.
Shutter: Compur-Rapid 1-1/500th  B&T
Filter Size: Bayonet 1.  (Taking lens only)
A single lever under the taking lens both cocks the shutter and releasesw it. Depth of field scale and exposure guide on back of door.
Cast nameplate.  Sports hood with pop up magnifier.  Red window on back door has removable plug (often missing.)
This camera received a CLA in Feb 2008.


Rolleiflex 4 X 4  Post-War Gray Baby (1957-1961)
Production  Serial Numbers: 2.000.001-2.099.999.
Camera # 2005749. Lens: f3.5 Schneider Xenar # 273369.
Shutter: Synchro-Compur MXV. 1-1/500 & B.
Filter Size: Bayonet 1 (both lenses.)
Light gray leather with dark gray trim.
Knob film advance with film feeler, interior baffles, exposre value system, film reminder on focusing knob, and sports finder.
Manufacturer specified that this camera was available with the Tessar or Xenar lens. However, no cameras with Tessar have been reported.  If you have a camera with a Tessar lens, please report it to this site.

Rolleiflex "Postwar Black Baby"
(1963-1968)
Camera # 2065583. f3.5 Xenar lens # 8925004.
This is the most rare of the 4 X 4 cameras. It had a small production run and is much sought after by collectors.
Although it appears the same outside as the Gray Baby, it is quite different mechanically. This one has black coarse grained leather.
Although the manufacturer listed this camera with either the Tessar or Xenar lens, no cameras with a Tessar lens have been reported.
